Hubbie's commerical

My husband shot a commercial today and I'm so proud of him! Look, they had to age him:
And here he is with one of the girls that played his daughter. How cute!

Breakfast with the Bears

Yesterday we went up to Grouse Mountain and had breakfast with the bears!
My husband has been planning this for a long time. He knows I love bears and he loves them too!
We took the gondola up and looked at some cool statues.
And then we SAW THE BEARS!
These are two orphaned bears that live in a sanctuary up on Grouse Mountain.
We learned a lot about their habitat and I asked the volunteer a billion questions.
Can you see how happy I am about seeing the bears??
We saw them get food. They have to go for a swim to get some apples.
They had a lot of other cool attractions on the mountain but we weren't able to see them. Next time!
Bears, bears, bears!
Then we went in and had the breakfast buffet.
They limit the breakfast to about 30 people.
And we got bear ears!
It was very sunny when we left the mountain. Look at those healthy people, doing yoga.
One last pic before heading down.
Goodbye for now, bears! I miss you already!

San Fran day 3

On day 3 of our San Fran trip we headed back into the city. It was a foggy day on the bridge.
We went to a San Francisco Giants game! It was so much fun. We had really good seats too.
And they won! Which made for a couple of happy tourists.
Then we met up with our hosts for dinner.
I have known Simone and Sean for years now, ever since high school. It was GREAT fun visiting them!

Father's Day

Father's Day was bittersweet again this year, without Pa, but we did get to take my father in law John out for dinner. Here he is with my hubs:

The Hubs

Look at this handsome fella.
This is a very common look: Me goofy, him normal.
Then I convince him to be a tad goofy:

De Dutch

I took the rest of the week off to recover from our NY trip, so I got to sleep in, unpack and have brunch. We went to De Dutch, one of our favourite breakfast places. My husband had a loyalty card form AGES ago. It was finally time to upgrade to their new system. you can see his old, retro card there on the table, all faded and tattered. It's the end of an era, but luckily, not the end of their yummy breakfasts.

Funky Beibs

I figured out how to upload videos to this blog - does this thing work?! Here is a quick video of us on Christmas. We usually sing songs with the family after we've stuffed ourselves. My bro-in-law had an accordion, for some reason. It was pretty easy to plunk out a tune, we chose Justin Beiber. Enjoy!

Hot water bottle

My hubbie got me this as a small Christmas present. It had been so cold over Christmas, with all the snow and stuff. This hot water bottle is such a simple idea - and such a life saver. I put it on my feet when I'm crocheting on the couch, and fill it up to warm my bed. Perfect!

Crescendo

Over the weekend, my niece Brianna hosted this event, Crescendo.
I organized the silent auction prizes.
It was very well done and well attended - just a night of sharing talent and listening to good music, all for a great cause.
Selfie time! Me and the hubs sang a song together (him on guitar) and he accompanied Bri for one song (on piano).
I supervised this hooligan, who is hoping to make her stage debut soon - ha!
Here we are with the lady of the hour. It was a really great event!

Holiday Heights

On Tuesday we checked out another Christmas event in town, Holiday Heights at the Bloedel Conservatory. We had a lovely dinner beforehand at Seasons in the Park. And look, they have a Ferris wheel!
It was SCARY! Well, scary for us at first, not for the lovebirds behind us.
This is the view from the very top! Once it got going it was not as scary. Then we went inside the conservatory, warmed up, saw some tropical birds and plants, and ran into some friends too. It was a great time.

Birthday Boy

Happy birthday to my hubby! We both had busy days, so we made sure to celebrate lots this past weekend.
We did manage to meet up late in the evening for a celebratory beer :)

Back to school blues

Have I told you how busy it is, when term is in session and it's back to school season? It's SO BUSY! The back to school blues have got me thinking about - BEER. The one on the far right is a grapefruit ale, so refreshing and yummy. And hey, we're one day closer to the weekend!

Goodbye little house

Today we handed in the keys to our little house, that we rented for 7 years!
We have had many parties, gatherings, music lessons, and meetings here, and have had many people stay in our basement: our in-laws, friends, fellow artists; from Toronto to England to New Zealand!
My mom helped us clean. Our kitchen has never looked so nice!
I'll miss the little octagonal windows in our living room. I'll also miss being in a whole house and being able to make lots of noise and music. I played flute for many hours by that corner window.
Here is the big bay window in our bedroom, that I was so happy about when we first moved in. But it made the room so cold! I don't like the cold but the hubbie did.
I'll miss our little garage and the apple trees that grow alongside it. And making apple crumble with those apples. I'll miss seeing my Pa standing at the garage door, storing stuff in there while they moved out of my childhood home.
I'll miss the wild pink roses that grow on the front of the house.
But look, we are almost moved into our new apartment, that isn't new at all, but is the first place we will own! Looking back is hard sometimes, but me and my husband are excited to be looking forward as well!
