Breakfast with the Bears

Yesterday we went up to Grouse Mountain and had breakfast with the bears!

My husband has been planning this for a long time. He knows I love bears and he loves them too!

We took the gondola up and looked at some cool statues.

And then we SAW THE BEARS!

These are two orphaned bears that live in a sanctuary up on Grouse Mountain.

We learned a lot about their habitat and I asked the volunteer a billion questions.

Can you see how happy I am about seeing the bears??

We saw them get food. They have to go for a swim to get some apples.

They had a lot of other cool attractions on the mountain but we weren't able to see them. Next time!

Bears, bears, bears!

Then we went in and had the breakfast buffet.

They limit the breakfast to about 30 people.

And we got bear ears!

It was very sunny when we left the mountain. Look at those healthy people, doing yoga.

Bear with turtleneck.

Look at this cute, that I found on Pinterest.

He's wearing a turtleneck! It cracks me up, I just had to make one. It turned out perfect.

Mini ripple blanket

My cousin in Ottawa is expecting a baby girl! She requested a mini blanket, just big enough for the baby stroller.

This was easy and fast to whip up, so I made a matching baby bear rattle for her too. Actually she has a squeaker inside her, so she squeaks when you press her little nose.

Big Bear

This year Leyna wanted a big bear for Christmas. I found her this BIG bear from Canadian Tire. He was so snuggly and cute, I had some fun times with him before I gave him away. Here's him and the hubs at the store.

He came home and played some violin for us.

And then some flute.

He gazed at our fireplace.

And had a nip of red wine.

He also gazed and our Christmas tree.

And did a little knitting!

And then he went for a car ride to Christmas dinner.

Here he is, almost ready for his new owner.

Gift for Jenny

A friend of mine, Jenny, has had a baby girl!

Jenny lives in WA now, so I send this cutie off to her. I hope she and her new daughter like it :)

Bear Blankie

I got a new crafting too last week, Kay's Crochet skip blade. It's a rotary tool attachment that pokes holes into fabric so you can add a crocheted edge. It's WONDERFUL!

I went out to Fabric Land and got some flannel blankets.

Then I poked some holes into this bear blankie, and crocheted an edge on to it. Then I found this guy...

And gave him a matching bowtie. I think it will make for a nice gift for a new baby. I am obsessed with this skip blade, I love it! Now I have to get a whole new stash of flannel fabrics!

Santa bear heads

I like making small objects sometimes. It helps contrast with all the blankets I make, which take me a long time. It's nice to finish a project in an hour!

Here are some bear heads. I attached a loop and a Santa hat, so that they can be used as ornaments. They'll go in the "for sale" pile for the Kensington Craft Fair next month :)

Some amigurumi

I have been making some little amigurumi projects, with the patterns from this wonderful site.

I used up some of the purple yarn I had leftover from this project.

The animals are small - so I can finish one in about an hour and a half.

I modified the pattern a bit to go from the bottom up. This is so that I don't have to join the legs on one by one. I think they have a bit more sturdiness to them.

I like the bunny ears, they're so big and floppy!

They look like a happy bunch, don't they?

More Bear Head

Bear head

Good morning! Here is a bear head to brighten your day. No body, just a head. It cracks me up, for some reason. I'm going to make a few more for Magee Market Fair 2015 edition. I have gone to this event for the last few years, and it's always a blast. Hopefully someone will like this lonely bear head.

New bears

Remember these teddies? Well I've had a request for a couple more. This time, a little smaller. Look at these two:

It's been fun working on them again and adjusting their size. Hopefully the collaboration gets off the ground; if so, I'll keep you posted!
