A small lap blankie that I made on the trip down to Ashland.

Blanket and to donation
A friend of mine was looking for donations for a charity auction she is organizing for A Loving Spoonful. I sadly could not go to the event, but made this for her to auction.
A crocheted granny blanket, good for a care seat or stroller, and a toy owl rattle. I made it from the yarn I got during Little Miss Glitz, from my secret friend. It nice and bright for a new baby :)

Vintage Blankets
I popped into a thrift store near my house and found these lovely crocheted vintage blankets.
I cruised by the yarn section too. Not bad, but I resisted.

Chickadee set
I forgot about this fabric that I had in my collection - a nice flannel cotton with happy chickadees on it. I made a few of these sets in the past, and then forgot I had more fabric.
I made up a nice border and a matching rattle in chickadee yellow. It'll go into the sell/auction/donate pile.

Mini ripple blanket
My cousin in Ottawa is expecting a baby girl! She requested a mini blanket, just big enough for the baby stroller.
This was easy and fast to whip up, so I made a matching baby bear rattle for her too. Actually she has a squeaker inside her, so she squeaks when you press her little nose.

Another Ripple Blanket
I finished another ripple blanket, this time to donate to TUTS' fundraiser.
My husband helped design this one, by picking out the order of colours and deciding on the cream in between. He is sad to see the blanket leave our cozy couch, but it's for a good cause.
The Avengers are lounging away on it, getting ready to travel to their new home.

Ripple Goodness
It's been a while since I have finished a blanket for Handmade Hugs. So I started this one during the last week of December.
The ripple pattern always goes by so fast.
I did four rows of each colour, all in medium weight yarn from donate yarn or yarn from my own stash.
I worked on it while binge-watching the Mindy Project on Netflix. I love that show! I love Mindy! And Danny!
It was finished on Jan. 1 - my first FO of 2017!

Monster baby set
We have more friends who are expecting, Danny and Katie. I made them a blanket set, like the one I made here, using my skip blade tool.
I saw this fabric in the store and thought of Danny right away, so I went with a little monster theme.
I made a matching monster rattle, inspired by the red guy in the print. I didn't make him little green arms, in case they got chewed off. But I added some blue polkadots to him, and a big silly smile.

Blue blanket
It's been difficult getting back to my blog, after my Pa's passing. But, even if no one reads this, it's also been helpful to write some things out, and get some of my thoughts out. I find this blog also acts as a time capsule, and I'm reminded of all the things I've done or made in the past. I will try and continue to post, so here goes.
Here's a blanket I made with the yarn I picked up in February.
I made the first few squares while I was sitting at Pa's bedside in the hospital. I picked a nice bold blue as the main colour. Yellow is my mom's favourite colour, so I paired it with that.
This is my niece Leyna, who helped me with the blanket over the next few days. She counted squares for me, stacked and organized, and helped me cut off the loose ends.
I made a wee bear to go with it, and here is Leyna posing with the finished product.
And here she is again, posing with her Lolo.

The blanket isn't very big, but I wanted to finish it in the days following Pa's passing and before the service, and I got it done! It would be a nice lap blanket or a nice baby/toddler blanket. I'm not sure if I will give this one to Handmade Hugs, I might just hang on to it for awhile.

Gift for Jenny
A friend of mine, Jenny, has had a baby girl!
Jenny lives in WA now, so I send this cutie off to her. I hope she and her new daughter like it :)

Granny Stripe Blanket done
Here it is, all done:
I used all kinds of medium weight yarn that I got from Handmade Hugs, plus a few from my own stash.
The aqua edging is a bit lighter in weight, but tied everything together nicely.

It's 51 x 41 inches - I think that's big enough for a twin size blanket. I'm sad to see this one go, it's so colourful and happy, I had a lot of fun making it!

Shamrock Granny all done
I finished another blanket, the green granny one I was working on.
I love how it turned out!
It's so nice for spring, with all those lovely shades of green.
I'll call it the Shamrock Granny :)

Even More Stripes
And the stripes go on...
I hope I have enough for a twin sized blanket. I have the width but not quite the length I want.

More Stripes
I've made some more progress on my granny stripe blanket, see?
The hardest part is deciding what colour should come next, and seeing if I have enough for 3 lines of it.

Starting Stripe
I got a little stripey this past weekend, by starting on a granny stripe blanket. I have a bunch of medium weight yarn from Handmade Hugs - I hope it's enough to make a blanket. I'm changing colour every three rows and weaving in ends as I go, so there's less bits to deal with at the end.

Baby bear set
I'm sort of addicted to making little baby sets with my Kay's Crochet skip blade tool. Here is another one I made with a lovely mint green picot edge border. The matching bear was a little amigurumi man that I made ages ago. He had some funny shorts on and I just couldn't make his outfit work properly. So I turned him into a bear!
Look - another happy customer :)

Spring grannies
I have started another blanket with some of the yarn my hubby picked up from Handmade Hugs. I couldn't go over this time, so he sent a bag of finished blankets and picked up more yarn for me. What a guy!
I don't have much of this yarn, but I love the shades of green they gave me. It makes me think of spring, which is a welcome thought since we've had a lot of rain lately. But it'll make the spring grasses grow :)
