Three years ago when I went to New York, I visited the Yarn Company. I bought one skein of lovely, 100% silk scarf, and made Ysolda's Ishbel. It's one of my favourite patterns! Even though my favourite scarf developed a hole in it, I didn't think about the Ishbel I made out of the Chaiten yarn by Araucania. It sat for almost three years, waiting to be blocked.
Well finally, I blocked it! I am a bit lazy when it comes to blocking, I just eyeballed it without using a tape measure and measuring it out properly.
No matter, the lace effect is just gorgeous.
Because it's 100% silk, it was dry after only a couple of hours.
Lovely! A new Ishbel! And just in time, because I leave for New York again tonight! Me and the hubby are taking the red eye and spending 5 glorious days in the big apple!!

There's a hole in my scarf, dear Liza, dear Liza
Remember my favourite scarf? The one I've worn maybe every day for the last 3 and a half years? Well there's a big, ugly gaping hole in it!
And the yarn is broken over 5 rows and I can't find my wee leftover ball of yarn. Is this the end for misti alpaca? Noooooo!!

My Favorite Scarf
This is my favorite scarf/shawl, by far. I received the yarn, Misti Alpaca, from two very good friends of mine.
The colors are fantastic. It goes with everything and I get loads of compliments on it.
The pattern is Ishbel by Ysolda, which I have made many, many times. It's really a great pattern.

Hmmm not sure about this
You know, everyone is wearing these awesome slouchy hats these days and looking, well awesome. "Hey," thought I, "I knit - I should make myself one." Or two. Or three.
I found some chunky yarn on sale at Michael's and bought a couple of balls because there is absolutely no yarn in my house whatsoever, no siree. I started with Ysolda's Icing Swirl Hat and it ended up being too big. I mean, HUGE - like, so embarrassingly huge that I couldn't take a picture of it for fear the anonymous blog-reading world would judge me. I went down two whole needle sizes and came out with this:
I dunno, not sure if it suits me. So after knitting this hat twice, I found another pattern and tried again. More on that tomorrow. Right now, I have to sleep. (Ooooh what will the next attempt look like? Tune in tomorrow to find out!)
PS - Do I really look that goofy? I guess so :S

Weekend Knitting

Did you know you can make two things at once? I usually try to make gloves, socks, legwarmers - anything in twos - like this, because I'll get bored of making them after the first one and forget about the second.

They gave me a bit of trouble - especially the flippy part. I was knitting in the car and not paying too much attention - then realized I had made two right-handed mitts. Grrrr!
But I managed to get back on track and here they are - ready to wear out in the rain tomorrow.
Ravelry'd here. Hope you had a great weekend!
