Teacup candles

My soy candle addiction is not slowing down! I have started making them in little teacups. Aren't they cute?
I have visited Value Village and thrift shops around town.
And now I have a nice little collection - what to do with them all?? I need to find a craft fair so I can peddle some of my wares.

More soy candles

Now that I found a new craft obsession - soy candles - I just can't stop making them.
And why WOULD I stop?? They're so quick, easy, and fun to make!
So far, I have not bought any glass containers. These are just leftovers from jam jars and other candle jars that I had laying about my house.
It's been fun mixing an combining sets, and also making lovely little tags for them too. I should look for a craft fair to sell these at, or maybe update my etsy store. I have a nice little collection now, and would love to share them with others!

Soy Candles

I have a new craft obsession: Soy Candles!
I looked in my kitchen cupboard one day and realized I had a lot of glass mason jars. I also had a lot of essential oils. What to do, what to do...
So I hopped on Pinterest and looked up how to make soy candles.
It's very easy! Soy is great to work with, because it cleans up so well. I picked up a 4-lb bag of soy flakes from Michael's, using a 40% off coupon. And I had a pack of 10 candle wicks in a craft drawer, so I put them to use.

The first batch was Rosemary and Cinnamon.
I added some hand-written calligraphy labels, to incorporate that craft obsession.
And of course added a bit of yarn to tie it all together.
Done! I gave one to my mom, one to my father-in-law, will give one to Shawna, and kept a cinnamon one for myself. Here it is, in action!
They're very easy and fast to make. I will try and mix scents next time - and there WILL be a next time, so stay tuned...

Room Freshshener

This weekend, I made my first craft with the essential oils Shawna gave me.

It's a room freshener, and it was so easy! I took the lid off a small mason jar and filled it 3/4 full with baking soda. Then I added about 10 drops of lemongrass and 15 drops of eucalyptus oil. Then I stirred it all up with a wooden craft stick. For the top, I cut out circles from plastic mesh and scrapbook paper. I poked some holes with a needle in a random sort of star pattern. I put the jar just in my entrance way in my home, and I shake it every now and then so the lovely scent spreads. So easy and it smells great.

Essential Oils

Last week when I went to visit Shawna and her cats, we did our Christmas exchange. She got me a bunch of essential oils. I am THRILLED! I have some bottles at home but she gave me tons! I'm so excited to start using them and crafting with them. I started this board on Pinterest for some inspiration.
