Still doodling

Yes, I'm still doodling and practicing my calligraphy. There's so many fun quotes in the world, it's easy to dream up some doodles.

More artsy things

The watercolour fun continues.

I got a proper pad of paper, specifically for watercolour art. It's nice and thick, so it doesn't crinkle when you add water.

I love the swirly effects you can get from watercolours. It has really inspired me to do more artsy things. 

Tranquil

I'm loving these watercolour pencils I got from Michaels!

I finally managed to use water with them. They're very easy to use and there are lots of pins on Pinterest to inspire me.

I finished of this little guy with my calligraphy pens. Ahhh, tranquil.

Water colour pencils

I found this set of coloured pencils at Michaels. There are some regular pencil crayons, some drawing pencils, and some watercolour pencils.

I made a doodle...

And then coloured it in. I have yet to try out using water with the watercolour pencils, but I'm excited to have a go.

More soy candles

Now that I found a new craft obsession - soy candles - I just can't stop making them.

And why WOULD I stop?? They're so quick, easy, and fun to make!

So far, I have not bought any glass containers. These are just leftovers from jam jars and other candle jars that I had laying about my house.

It's been fun mixing an combining sets, and also making lovely little tags for them too. I should look for a craft fair to sell these at, or maybe update my etsy store. I have a nice little collection now, and would love to share them with others!

Soy Candles

I have a new craft obsession: Soy Candles!

I looked in my kitchen cupboard one day and realized I had a lot of glass mason jars. I also had a lot of essential oils. What to do, what to do...

So I hopped on Pinterest and looked up how to make soy candles.

It's very easy! Soy is great to work with, because it cleans up so well. I picked up a 4-lb bag of soy flakes from Michael's, using a 40% off coupon. And I had a pack of 10 candle wicks in a craft drawer, so I put them to use.

The first batch was Rosemary and Cinnamon.

I added some hand-written calligraphy labels, to incorporate that craft obsession.

And of course added a bit of yarn to tie it all together.

Done! I gave one to my mom, one to my father-in-law, will give one to Shawna, and kept a cinnamon one for myself. Here it is, in action!

They're very easy and fast to make. I will try and mix scents next time - and there WILL be a next time, so stay tuned...

Calligraphy

I bought a new calligraphy pen at Michael's, using a 40% off coupon. I used to have a set when I was younger, with different colours and everything. But I don't know where it went.

I found some nice quotes on Pinterest and started copying them and making up some doodles.

It's so relaxing and satisfying! I will have to keep my eye out on a nice pad of thick paper, so I can make more and more and more doodles!
