Last night we went to the Ovation Awards! Here is Caitlin, rehearsing a number from the Virgin Wars.
And here is the hubs, rehearsing a number from Closer than Ever.
We were both nominated, but did not win this year. Ah well, it was such a fun night. I sang a duet from Fame with my friend Sharon, and we did a number from Company.I officially ended my Ovation jury duties. The event is such a great way to reconnect with the theatre community, celebrate all the shows from last year, and look ahead to this year.

2015 Ovation Awards
This past weekend was the Ovation Awards, held at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
It shares a parking lot with the planetarium, which is such a cool building.
I was so busy all night, I only managed to snap one blurry picture of this thank you chocolate as I was leaving. I sold 50/50 tickets, took pictures of the show, and presented an award. I was also nominated for an award for "Into the Woods," which was great fun, even though I didn't win. But my husband won for Outstanding Music Direction for "Hairspray." He is SUCH a superstar!!

Ovations Nominations
I have posted about the Ovation Awards in the past. They are awards held for musicals in the Lower Mainland over the year. I got nominated for Best Supporting Female, for Into the Woods.
And my hubby got nominated for Best Musical Director, for Hairspray. Hairspray got a bunch of other nominations, including a special mention for the band!

The Awards will take place on Jan. 31, I'm sure it will be a fun night!
And oh, this year I am on the Ovation Jury, which means I go and see musicals all year long. Then I get to nominate and vote on what I feel are the most outstanding elements. So be prepared to hear about all the musicals I see, all year long!

Ovation Awards
Last Sunday night was the Ovation Awards, an event honouring musicals in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Both my hubs and I were nominated, both for our work in the King and I, but it was a great chance to meet up with many friends in the community to celebrate all the shows from last year. I got to sing my solo from the King and I, it was very nice to revisit that song. Here's a grainy pic just before the event started.
I didn't win in my category, but my good friend Dusty Rose DID! She was so surprised and thrilled, it was just perfect. In fact, many people from How to Succeed won, including our director and the actors in leading male and female categories. And LOOK, my hubbie won for outstanding Music Director for the King and I!! (And yes, we celebrated with McDonalds.)
