Ovations 2016

Last night we went to the Ovation Awards! Here is Caitlin, rehearsing a number from the Virgin Wars.
And here is the hubs, rehearsing a number from Closer than Ever.
We were both nominated, but did not win this year. Ah well, it was such a fun night. I sang a duet from Fame with my friend Sharon, and we did a number from Company.I officially ended my Ovation jury duties. The event is such a great way to reconnect with the theatre community, celebrate all the shows from last year, and look ahead to this year.

Fame has closed

Fame closed yesterday but my secret friend was awesome right to the end. I got more LOTR Pez characters - I love Lord of the Rings!
And look, they organized a panda burning session! Did you know, I hate pandas?? Ugh, they're the worst. Burn, paper pandas, burn!
The Fellowship grows...
Gandalf tells the pandas, "You shall not pass!"
Gollum wants my chocolate covered almonds.
It was a great show - seemed like a short run, but full of talent. Here is the lovely, colourful wall outside the Firehall Theatre.
And here is a picture of my cast mate and producer, Chris. I got his autograph on stage!
Now on to the next adventure: MOVING!

Secret friend adventures

We're doing secret friend in Fame! Look at some of the cools stuff I got!!
Here's a little water-colour sketch with the pencils and sketchbook that my SF got me.
And did you know I love Lord of the Rings? Look at my Fellowship Pez! Gimli is shorter than Legolas, because he's a dwarf, you know. And Bilbo is even shorter, because he's a hobbit. And Dwight is in the back, on a Shrute Buck. (I also love The Office.) Yay secret friend!

Fame Tech

This week we moved into the theatre for Fame. Which means a lot of standing around and waiting and setting up and waiting some more. I had lots of time to take pictures of this light. I was sort of captivated by it.

And here is Synthia under all the lights. Doesn't it look cool?? Tonight is preview - come see!

Upcoming show: Fame

Have I not told you about my upcoming show? I have not! It's Fame - that's right, from the 80s movie and TV hit show. I play Miss Sherman, the starchy English teacher who runs the school and keeps those kids in line. We go up in a week (!!) and have been rehearsing up a storm. It's an equity collective, and there are a TON of talented people in the show. If you're in the 'hood, come see!
