A start on squares

Now that my wool is all nicely wound up, I started on some squares. I love the look of this half and half square, that I found on Pinterest, from MoCrochet.

I also tried out this square, also from MoCrochet, via Pinterest.

Crocheting 12" squares seems so much more doable to me than making a big long blanket. I just make up squares, toss them into a pile, and stitch them all up when there's enough of them. This wool is quite rough, however, and might not be the best for a blanket. I'm waiting to hear back on some wool-softening tips since this will hopefully be a blanket for Handmade Hugs.
