Into the theatre we go

We have finished with our rehearsal space and have moved into the lovely Gateway Theatre. Look at how nice our set looks - and it's not even done yet!
As usual, I bring my yarn to knit and crochet backstage or in the house, when I'm not needed. I finished this little pink toque the other night and added a crocheted flower to it. I did it in Tunisian crochet, which crochets up quickly - and looks like knit!

More Tunisian Crochet

I've decided to make a long cowl/neckwarmer thing. I started and re-started a couple of times, before deciding on using my Tunisian Crochet hook and two strands of DK held together. This technique is SO fast. This was the pieces after 15 minutes:
And here it is after about 15 more minutes:
Speedy Gonzalez!

Hat inspiration

Look at this gorgeous hat I found while perusing Pinterest:

It's from this website and it's so simple and lovely and delicious! I've been trying my hand at Tunisian Crochet but it's tough, because I need some hooks that I couldn't find anywhere. And I'm having a hard time getting the hang of the Tunisian purl stitch - my attempts at ribbing have not looked right at all. So I'll keep at it because it is super duper fast. It's funny being a newbie at anything knit or crochet!

Tunisian Crochet: Baby bear hat

I learned how to do Tunisian Crochet! I had never even heard of it before, but it's awesome. Super fast and looks exactly like knitting. I decided to try out a small project, so I made this wee hat for my friend's preemie son.

I just cast on 32 stitches and worked it like I would a knitted hat.
The top came out a bit pointy, so I added ears to divert attention away from the pointiness!
I tell you, it looks EXACTLY knitting! It even rolls the way stockinette stitch does. Amazing!
I hope it fits her little wee baby bear.
