Our first full day in the big apple and - IT'S SNOWING! As you recall, I'm so over snow! But I don't mind so much, since we're on vacation. The first thing we did this morning was line up for tickets. There are 3 theatres across the street from each other on 45th Street. One show (Dear Evan Hansen) was no longer selling rush seats. I stood in line for Come From Away, while Chris stood in line for Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. His line moved faster, so that's what our first show will be on this trip ($39)! We went back to the Come From Away line and got tickets for tomorrow's matinee ($47).
Then we went to the Dramatists Play Store and poked around for a bit.
It's COLD here! We're glad we brought some warm, homemade toques.
Obligatory shots of Time Square.
We met some friends for dinner at Obao. I like their funky lights.
Here we are! Chris, Stewart, Julie, Lena and me. Thai food for dinner was yummy.
Our first show! This was staged in the round, with the orchestra split up on platforms in the audience. The ensemble fully interacted with the audience, dancing and playing instruments. It was very impressive. And Josh Groban played Pierre. He also played the piano and accordion, it was very impressive, although he was too young and fit for the role, which is supposed to be a stocky man.
The show was impressively done and look at the amazing lighting!
