This year for Christmas, my present to the ladies in my family was Slipper Socks.
I like to knit these on my smallest round loom - they're SO fast and cozy!

Slipper Socks
Awhile ago, when I was falling in love with my knitting loom, I bought a set of circular looms. I made a pair of slipper socks on the smallest loom, with some bulky socks. I found some cozy yarn and made up another pair, using this pattern. It's nice and quick. And they're very cozy! Loose on my feet, but I wear them on top of my socks. Great for this rainy weather.

Purple Hats
My friend Cailin told me about this initiative, from the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario. So I grabbed some purple yarn from my stash and started crafting!
I made 10 hats all together. They were so quick and easy, since they're small for newborn babies.
I tried knitting some, but knitting takes me so much longer than crocheting. I did 3 in a crochet style that look like it's knitting (up there on the right hand side).
And I did two, with double strands of yarn, on my small knitting loom (up there on the top). The article said not to put on any straps, pompoms, or other embellishments that might be choking hazards. I hope the bow and flower I put on these two hats don't cause trouble - I made sure to sew them down completely.
So there you go, 10 hats for wee newborns. I will send them off before the October 31 deadline and maybe make a few more to add to the pile.

Christmas with the Kings
We hopped over to the island for a couple days to visit the Kings. The hubby has his show to do, so we couldn't get over for Christmas. No matter, we went a couple days before. I took the time to drop off these loom blankets for Handmade Hugs, which I finished a few weeks ago.
And I picked up more yarn from the yarn lady!
My in-laws always have lovely touches around their house, like this single bud in an egg cup:
And they served us a lovely, tasty Christmas dinner! It was a quick visit, but we're so glad we got a chance to hop over and see them. Merry Christmas!

Green cowl
I'm back to knitting on the loom. It's so FAST and EASY! Here's a green cowl I whipped up.
I added a little wrap around band and a nice big button.
So cozy!

Progress
I'm making some progress on these loom blankets. Not quite blankets yet, more like strips made from yummy, fluffy yarn.
I don't know what the final design will be like, but it sure is cozy so far!

Skinny loom scarf
Here's another project from the bag of yarn Beth gave me. It only had two balls of this thick bamboo yarn, so I made a skinny scarf on my mini loom.
I like the colour combo. It's slim but still lovely!

Will knit for coffee
I was in need of coffee at work. It's a long story. But basically, I was looking for some yummy coffee to share with my workmates. A friend of mine gave me a great deal on some Starbucks coffee - look at all that coffee!
In exchange, I'll give her one of my loom scarves or cowls. Maybe this lavender/blue one at the top:
Or one of these shorter cowls scarves with buttons:
Or this bottom blue one, which I think will go nicely with her blond hair.

Loom Blanket - done
I managed to finish the loom blanket and delivered it to the yarn lady last weekend. Here are the blocks with a row of single crochet:
And here's the whole thing with one row of double crochet border:
I added two more rows of double crochet:
And then it was all done!
I traded it for this bag of yarn so I could make MORE blankets!

Loom blanket
I forgot to post about the other set of yarn that I got from the yarn lady when I was in Chemainus last month. I got a double knit wool/nylon blend in four colours, six balls of each colour.
This time I decided to knit a blanket on the loom. I held two strands of yarn together, cast on 15 on my trusty straight loom, and knit until the balls were done - about 32 rows. The squares (rectangles) are nice and thick and have lovely texture.
Here's the layout that I'm thinking of. I have a variegated yarn that will compliment this palette, so I will crochet around each rectangle, and then make a thick border to beef up the size. Hopefully I'll finish it and deliver it back to Handmade Hugs this weekend!

Loom Hat
Loom knitting is not just for scarves and headbands, ya know. I also have a set of the round looms, which I've used to make some socks and hats. I finally got even tension on the hats, here's one I whipped up for the Magee Market Fair.
I love how the bulky yarn knits up so fast.
And I also love this pattern - so easy and look, the perfect slouch.

New hat and scarf for Ma
My Ma got a new hat and scarf this past weekend. I used Country Loom yarn in cream, which is nice and fluffy and VERY warm. The scarf is a simple infinity scarf, made on the loom and seamed together. The hat is the Shroom pattern from knitty.
She LOVED them. Heck, I LOVE them! I wanted to keep the set for myself but really, how could I refuse that gorgeous face?!

Movies and knitting
It's so cold and rainy and gloomy out - but it's perfect weather for watching movies and knitting on the loom! We have seen a number of movies on Netflix and on our Apple TV this past week: Hansel and Gretel, GI Joe 2, Bourne Legacy, the new BBC Sherlock episodes, and some others that I'm forgetting.
All the while I have been a-loom, loom, loomin'. I made some infinity scarves with some nice, fluffy yarn. This is Loops and Threads Country Loom yarn - it only takes one skein of yarn (about 110 yards) to make one soft scarf.
