Last weekend we got over to the island for a few days.
It was a lovely day for a ferry ride.
Cloudy, but dry. Nice place for a nap, huh?
We also managed to see a number of our friends Footloose at Chemanius Theatre. What a great show!

Owls
I got a thing for owls. They're so cool! I have crocheted many an owl in my life, and had lots of fun looking at the decor in the Owl's Nest in Chemainus. For example, look at their cute wallpaper!

Hopping over to the island
Last weekend was the closing of the Buddy Holly Story in Chemainus. I hopped on over to see my hubby and help him move back to Vancouver. My last experience on a sea plane was so quick and easy, I decided to book another flight with them.
This time was not as good - it was rainy and windy so the plane was tossed about a little bit.
But oh well, the ride is only 20 minutes so I survived!

Loom blanket
I forgot to post about the other set of yarn that I got from the yarn lady when I was in Chemainus last month. I got a double knit wool/nylon blend in four colours, six balls of each colour.
This time I decided to knit a blanket on the loom. I held two strands of yarn together, cast on 15 on my trusty straight loom, and knit until the balls were done - about 32 rows. The squares (rectangles) are nice and thick and have lovely texture.
Here's the layout that I'm thinking of. I have a variegated yarn that will compliment this palette, so I will crochet around each rectangle, and then make a thick border to beef up the size. Hopefully I'll finish it and deliver it back to Handmade Hugs this weekend!

Chemainus again
I was back in Chemainus this past weekend, visiting my husband who is back doing Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story at Chemainus Theatre.
It was nice on Friday but then it rain, rain, rained for the rest of the weekend.
I went to the candy store to buy some treats for my nephew and nieces. And me too!
Here are the boys, listening to some live music at the Willow Street Cafe.
And here is a 1-year old Irish wolf hound in the bead store, Etc!
And some lovely canvas collages in the Owl's Nest.

It was nice to see the show, see my husband, and slow down for a weekend.
