For Dee

Today I am remembering Dee, my dear mother in law who passed away one year ago.

It's hard to believe a year has passed, and I so miss seeing her smiling face. Here she is with my mom, the night before we got married back in 2006. I will always her like this: happy, smiling, with a nice glass of white wine in hand!

It's sad to remember her but also happy to remember the time we had with her. I hope she is resting in peace, having some wine, somewhere with my Pa. 

A Weekend for Dee

This weekend we went over to the island to honour a special woman, Deirdre King.

About a month before losing my Pa, my husband lost his mother, Dee. She had some healthy issues and, although we thought she was on the mend, they got the better of her. She died peacefully in her sleep on April 6, 2016.

It has been a rough year indeed. We finally got the chance to get together, just the immediate family. We went for a lovely dinner at the Mashead Restaurant in Mill Bay.

Then came back to the house to have some dessert, play some tunes, and toast Dee.

It was a simple memorial, very tasteful and full of love. Dee would have loved it. We miss you, Dee. Rest in peace. 

Mountains

We went for a drive to the ferry today, to try and visit the Kings. But one ferry was out of order, and that resulted in six cancelled sailings. SIX! So we did not manage to see the Kings, but we did see some nice, snowy mountains.

One year, hopefully soon, we'll have a real white Christmas, with snow and hot chocolate and skiing! Although I can't ski but maybe I can learn :)

Christmas with the Kings

We hopped over to the island for a couple days to visit the Kings. The hubby has his show to do, so we couldn't get over for Christmas. No matter, we went a couple days before. I took the time to drop off these loom blankets for Handmade Hugs, which I finished a few weeks ago.

And I picked up more yarn from the yarn lady!

My in-laws always have lovely touches around their house, like this single bud in an egg cup:

And they served us a lovely, tasty Christmas dinner! It was a quick visit, but we're so glad we got a chance to hop over and see them. Merry Christmas!
