Casting on

I finished a wee knit project yesterday (more on this later) and decided to keep the summer knitting flow going. I cast on for Hedgehog Fibre's beautiful Abalone. This is much bigger than the little thing I just finished, so hopefully I will keep going!

Amy's scarf

I wanted to make a handmade gift for our dear friend Amy, who let us stay with her in NYC. I started this Granny Kerchief shawlette before I left, and finished it in New York.

I extended the ends so they were longer and could be easily tied.

I think the navy will look nice with Amy's blond hair.

Plus it's a nice lightweight cotton that she can hopefully wear for many months.

We met during "How to Succeed," so this postcard worked perfectly as a thank you card.

Amy wasn't there when we left New York, so I hid it on top of one of her shelves and gave her instructions on how to find it when she returned to her apartment. I hope she likes it!

Baby Things

Beth gave me some yarn from her own stash. Because I need more yarn. (Yes I do!) She had two balls of this lovely baby yarn in cotton/poly blend. We have a couple of friends having babies soon, so I made her a set of baby things:

Corset Cup Warmer

Isn't this adorable?? It was a quick and easy knit, I whipped it up for a friend's Christmas present. The pattern was very simple, I'll definitely be making more of them.

Spring Birthdays: Donya's Ruffle Scarf

It's finally spring! There are a lot of spring birthdays in my life, including Donya's birthday, March 20. Last month Donya gave me a whole bunch of yarn and I love her for it! So for her birthday, I used some of the yarn she gave me to make this:

You can wrap it around once, twice, or three times! (Maybe 4 times, if you want to obstruct oxygen flow.)

Anti-Valentine's Day Hearts

It's Valentine's Day - hope your day is a happy one! I'm not one for mushy, romantic stuff, here's proof:

I knit these up a few years ago as a joke for my hubby. A few people have asked me for the pattern but as usual, I made it up as I went along and didn't write anything down. Someday I'll re-create them and document the steps. But not today. Today I search for chocolate. (Ravelry link here.)

Slouchy Hats Part 2

Ok here is my second attempt (this week) at making a slouchy hat. The yarn is LionBrand Wool-Ease - it's super bulky and super warm. It's less slouchy than last the other one I made, so I think it might sit better. Have a looksie:

I think it's a better fit and I like the seed stitch pattern. But it might look better on my mom.  The pattern is here and my ravelry notes are here.

I've been knitting a lot and listening to Sue Grafton audio books. You know the ones: "A is for Alibi," "B is for Burglar," and so on. They're great for knitting but they are downright SCARY at times!
