Under the Same Sky Rehearsals

We're back from NYC and I get to jump right back into rehearsals for Under the Same Sky. We're rehearsing in West Van - look at that gorgeous sky!
And here is Helen, the composer and our rehearsal pianist. She is a gem, so sweet!

Under the Same Sky

I have started rehearsals for my first show of 2016: Under the Same Sky.
It's an original musical - I'm always excited to work on new material. The people involved are all lovely, and I'm happy to be back in the swing of things. We open at the end of April, for one week only. Yay theatre!

Stage Manager

At rehearsal for Ghosts, I got to moonlight as the stage manager. It's touch work! And I wasn't even doing much, just making sure Susan's master book was all up to date!

More Chip

I spent some more time with Chip this weekend, our Glitz doggie. He just loves the camera, as you can tell.

Little Miss Glitz

Now that Company has closed, I've moved on to another show - Little Miss Glitz! It's an original jukebox musical, filled with pop songs, about a child beauty pageant. I play Franny, an over-worked single mom with a 7 year old daughter who is a diva with a temper. It's gonna be fun! Here's a behind the scenes shot of us filming for our Indiegogo campaign. Find out more here.
And this is Chip! Chip is our Music Director's doggie and he's so much fun!

More company

There's theatre all over the place, as usual. My husband's show, The Wizard of Oz, opened this past weekend out at the Gateway Theatre. He's music directing and conducting all those munchkins (and adults too). My Company rehearsals continue, and look, here's some press:
We did this photo shoot a couple weeks back, and it's out in Playboard Magazine now. It looks very violent, but I promise, we're all very friendly!

Upcoming show: Company

It's time to tell you about the show I've been rehearsing for - Company! I just love Sondheim and I LOVE this show, it's one for my bucket list, so I'm thrilled I get to be in it. I'm playing Sarah, the karate-loving, food-addicted, wife :) The company is called United Players and we open in January of 2016.
Our choreographer is Julie, master choreo lady extraordinare. She lives in Toronto and travels all over the place for work. I got to work with her on Hairspray this past summer. But she was in town last week to do an intense week of choreo with us. She sure whipped up into shape. She'll be back in January to whip us some more ;)

Life = rehearsal

There's not too much crafting going on in my world, mostly because I am SO busy with work and rehearsals for Into the Woods.

Here's the hubs, with a jumbo bag of M&Ms!
And me in rehearsal with our Assistant Director Ben.
I'm getting excited for this show!

Rehearsal = Life

Rehearsal is my life these days. Good thing my husband is MD'ing this show, or else I'd never see him.

Sleepy Hat

I finished a hat. It looks like this. And this is what I look like, sleepy after a full day of work and a full night of tech rehearsal for the King and I. Lovely pattern here.

More rehearsals

One of the kids in the King and I brought in some play dough to keep her occupied during rehearsal. She asked me, "What should I make?" It suggested she make a hamburger, here's what she came up with:
Pretty darned good, hey? We both enjoyed squashing them when she was finished with her masterpiece. Ahh kids, they create, they destroy!
We have been rehearsing in Lansdowne mall, look at the lovely window display. And now, we move into the theatre!

Snack

Shall I share with you my rehearsal snack pack? Ok, here ya go:
Contents: apple, peanut butter, mandarin oranges, triscuits, cheddar cheese, and two fortune cookies. This container is by systema and it makes me so happy! But I've thrown it about a few too many times so it's barely holding together. I shared a few apple slices and crackers, but for the most part, I ate it all up!
