Blanket and to donation

A friend of mine was looking for donations for a charity auction she is organizing for A Loving Spoonful. I sadly could not go to the event, but made this for her to auction.
A crocheted granny blanket, good for a care seat or stroller, and a toy owl rattle. I made it from the yarn I got during Little Miss Glitz, from my secret friend. It nice and bright for a new baby :)

Robin Hood

Remember these cute butts?
Well we got one of our own! We went to see Robin Hood, Prince of Tease on the weekend, and bought ourselves a cheeky butt cookie.
This show is produced by my pals at Too Fly, who produced Little Miss Glitz. I made a fat cat for them and judged their Inner Beauty pageant, so of course we had to check out the show. The show is a musical-theatre style burlesque show, with pop, wrap, and hip hop music. It was fun and sexy, all wrapped up together. Their production value is always so high, it was really fun to be rowdy and support our friends.

Robin Hood cat

Next weekend my friends at Too Fly are having a fundraiser. This is the gang that produced Little Miss Glitz last year. They asked if I had any stock laying around to donate - and yes, I always do! But I decided to make them a cat like Verdi:
Too Fly has an upcoming burlesque-musical theatre show called Robin Hood, Prince of Tease. They said their colours were orange and green. So I made this cat! He's pretty solid, I put flax seed in his butt so he sits up straight.
And look, I made him a little Robin Hood hat too! He will be a silent auction prize, so I hope he enjoys his new home.

Inner Beauty Pageant

This past weekend was a Family Day in BC - long weekends rule!
I had the pleasure of judging the Inner Beauty Pageant for Too Fly Productions. This is the same company that produced Little Miss Glitz last year, and it's a fundraiser for their upcoming show, Robin Hood: Prince of Tease.
There was a TON of talent, from the contestants and all the other acts that performed during the night.
It was held at the Junction on Davie Street, and it was their second annual pageant.
It was SO much fun! And my friend Mike came and it was his birthday! So I got to celebrate with him.
Here are all 6 contestants.
And here's the winner, Matthew!
Here are the judges: me, David and Barb. What a fun night, thanks for having me, Too Fly!

More Secret Friend

Glitz has closed but I keep posting about it - sorry! Last one, I promise. (Maybe.)

The Secret Friend that I picked was Tim, our producer. I made magnets out of some graphics that he designed.
And for closing, I got him a purple-themed basket. Purple is his favourite colour!
Here's a close up of a paperweight that I found. It's not purple, but it was perfect for him. Every night, Tim put on a pink and/or purple tutu to work front of house. And yes, life WOULD be better if we wore more tutus!

Glitz Secret Friend

I found out who my Secret Friend was on closing night - Alan! He wrote and produced the show! And he gave me lots of gifts with pictures of funny cats on them. Like this peppermint tea:
And chocolate bars.
And chips!
And more chocolate!
Look, even more chocolate!
And yarn yarn yarn! In glitzy colours!! I'm going to make a banner and some cupcakes out of them :)
Tomorrow I'll post about the Secret Friend that I picked and got to buy for. Theatre peeps are so fun.

Glitz Closing

Glitz has closed! Like all shows, I was sad to see this one go. It was such a fun concept and a really awesome cast. We had a new winner every night - here's a shot of me and my on-stage daughter, taking home first prize. LOOK at that monster trophy!
Here's Tiana, isn't she cute? She was in The King and I with me at Gateway a few years ago, and she has grown into such a lovely young lady.
Here we are in our "talent" costume, which we did to Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball. She straddled a yoga ball and I was - um, the chain, I guess? Or a speed skater??
Look at what our producers made for us, some feel better tea.
Here's a shot I took on-stage with my iPhone, of Ben and Paige, and the amazing glitzy backdrop.
And here is Ben. He really likes jackets so I made him a pin that said "I Like Jackets." The people at the store looked at me funny and then had to agree - we all like jackets!
Goodnight, Little Miss Glitz, it's been so much fun!

Glitz is open!

Little Miss Glitz has officially opened! Here are the pics to prove it:

Me and the hubs:
Me and my show daughter Tiana! We met during the King and I, I'm so glad we get a chance to work together again:
And here's the whole gang, including Chip, but missing Alen, our writer/producer:
It was a fun night, and now we have two more weeks of shows to look forward to!

Little Miss Glitz Opens

We move into the theatre this week for Little Miss Glitz, which opens Friday.
I am playing Franny, a single mom who works three jobs to pay for her daughter's pageant habit. Here's my program headshot, which I have titled "Eye Roll."

More Chip

I spent some more time with Chip this weekend, our Glitz doggie. He just loves the camera, as you can tell.

Little Miss Glitz

Now that Company has closed, I've moved on to another show - Little Miss Glitz! It's an original jukebox musical, filled with pop songs, about a child beauty pageant. I play Franny, an over-worked single mom with a 7 year old daughter who is a diva with a temper. It's gonna be fun! Here's a behind the scenes shot of us filming for our Indiegogo campaign. Find out more here.
And this is Chip! Chip is our Music Director's doggie and he's so much fun!
