Coffee!

My work colleague orders coffee to use in our Keureg from Granville Island Coffee. They come in big boxes with reusable green cups. All you do is compost the coffee pod after. SO quick and easy and good for the environment!

Coffe etc

The new term has started and things are very hectic. So I'm thinking back to Christmas vacation, when I had all the time in the world to have snacks and cookies and coffee and watch The Mindy Project from start to finish.
Aren't these the cutest cookies? Almost too good to eat.
And a perfect donut, yum.
And look at this prize pack my hubby won from 49th Parallel Coffee!
And even more treats. This was dinner one night, actually.

Candy & Chocolate

You can't have one without the other. And also, why would you even try to attempt separating the two?!

Lindt magic

That's right, it says PUMPKIN SPICE on the box. Someone gave this to us at work, and oh boy, it's very tasty with my morning coffee!

Sunny Sub

Last week I got my afternoon coffee at the new SUB at UBC - the Nest.
Ok so I got a cookie too. And sat out in the winter sunshine.
See that seagull? He wanted a taste of my cookie.
See him getting closer and closer?
Get your own cookie, seagull!!

Tis the season

It's that time of year…when everyone brings chocolate into the office to share. Two Roger's truffles that go great with my morning cuppa. It's never to early for chocolate, right?

Pumpkin Spice Americano

It's fall! Pumpkin spice is in the air! I love autumn!! I know everyone is crazy for pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, but the milk makes my tummy hurt. So I asked my barista to make me a pumpkin spice americano - exactly the same, but hot water instead of milk. PERFECT!

Wee filters

My co-worker got me some wee filters for my refillable K cup, for use in our ever-popular Keurig machine. I fill this bad boy up with Pike Place in the morning and wait for the coffee goodness.

Coffee Coffee Coffee!

Man, I love coffee! And donuts!
And I love the colour scheme at the 49th Parallel - lovely pale turquoise and vintage orange. Also: coffee!

Keurig

We got a Keurig machine at work! I am SO thrilled! And before you roll your eyes and tell me it's bad for the environment - I know! So I did a lot, A LOT, of research, and found out that you cannot recycle the little K cup on its own. BUT if you break down the components, you can recycle them like normal.

So about twice a day, I gather all the cups me and my work mates have used, separate the tin foil cover, put the coffee grounds in the compost, rinse out the cup and recycle the plastic. I truly was amazed at how easy it was, since Keurig gets a lot of flack for not being sustainable. It takes a teenie, tiny bit of extra work, but I'm happy to do it, so that I can have coffee sat the touch of a button. I can clean and recycle about 5 cups in the time it takes my bread to toast in the morning. Win-win-win!

Little Teapot

I have been hitting up the thrift store on my way home from work on Fridays. It's sort of a weekly ritual now. I found an amazing dress for $3.75! And last week I found this little teapot for my desk.
It has a metal sieve inside it, so it's perfect for making afternoon tea, or 1-2 cups of single brew coffee in the mornings. It's also perfect for making honey lemon water, for days when your throat is sore from singing Sondheim all night.
And it was such a good deal - only $3.99!

Tassimo

Look at my hubby won at a golf tournament! We'd been thinking about buying one of these machines over Christmas, since they're so handy in brewing just one cup when you need a hit of caffeine. I know they are somewhat in the bad books for creating a lot of waste, but you can't turn down a free prize! It came with some Tim Horton's coffee pods that are just yummy.
