Maisie Dobbs series

I have blogged in the past about how much I enjoy audio books, like this one. They're great when I'm at home knitting or crocheting, but these days I am mostly on the go. So they are perfect to listen to when I'm in the car.

I found a new series called Maisie Dobbs, by Jacqueline Winspear. I get them through the app from my library and they're great! It's about a woman who has worked as a nurse during the Great War, and is now an investigator and psychologist. I am on book 5 now and absolutely loving the series.

New library card

I love the library, I really do! But I have a confession: I have been using my hubby's card for the last 9 years. I racked up fines on my own card - but I can explain! My car was broken into many years ago (9, to be exact), and the thieves stole a bag with two library books in it. I didn't want to pay the high fines for the missing books, so I just kept using my husband's card. He has checked out a lot of craft and romance books over the years (yes, I read romance books!)

This weekend I decided to be an adult and get my own card. The supervisor at the branch even lowered my fines when I explained that the books had been stolen. I paid $25 in fines, $2 for the new card, and look, my own account!

I feel so grown up now!

Audio book: The Help

I am "reading" this audio book - The Help. I love listening to stories while I knit or crochet, it's perfect. But this book is so addictive! I listen to it at home, in the car, on my walks during work. I'm almost done, and I'll be sad when it's over, cuz it's so good!

Audio books

I won these audio books in an online auction last month. I love to listen to audio books and plays, especially when I'm knitting or crocheting. I also love Greek mythology, so I was excited when I saw these two stories. I thought about giving these away for Christmas presents, but nope - I kept them for myself :)

Slouchy Hats Part 2

Ok here is my second attempt (this week) at making a slouchy hat. The yarn is LionBrand Wool-Ease - it's super bulky and super warm. It's less slouchy than last the other one I made, so I think it might sit better. Have a looksie:

I think it's a better fit and I like the seed stitch pattern. But it might look better on my mom.  The pattern is here and my ravelry notes are here.

I've been knitting a lot and listening to Sue Grafton audio books. You know the ones: "A is for Alibi," "B is for Burglar," and so on. They're great for knitting but they are downright SCARY at times!
