Spelling Bee tour

Rona is back! The Spelling Bee closed in December, but we are back with a summer tour. Rona updated her look with a summery yellow sweater.
We're doing a week in Langley, next weekend in New West, and then one night on Gabriola Island.
That's Mary in the bottom corner, the new addition, since Sara couldn't make it back. But we all still love spelling!

More 80s

We had another round of the Awesome 80s prom!
Here's the hubs again, dancing up a storm.
And here's my view, all the way from the back at the bar.

The Awesome 80s Prom

This past weekend we helped Ryan and Fighting Chance out with the Awesome 80s Prom.
It's a theatre night where people dress up, party to 80s tunes, and there are actors on site moving the night forward by following a loose script.
I was on bar duty while the hubs was on DJ duty.
It was so much fun, and I love how people got so into it. There were some amazing costumes!
I think they have scheduled future dates, so the 80s Prom will be back for more fun soon.

FCP's 10th Anniversary

Fighting Chance celebrated their 10th anniversary last night. 10 years! Me and the hubs have been with them since the very beginning, and it was a great night of music and celebration. Here's a picture of the band, rehearsing during the day.
And here's Mark and Linda, incoming and outgoing board presidents, respectively.
Here is my dear friend Braedon, singing a song from Bare. We did this show in 2011, it seems so long ago!
And here's me taking a sneaky photo of Jen, singing from Little Women. I assistant directed this show in 2014 but again, it seemed like just yesterday.
And here is my hubs giving a little speech about what Ryan and FCP has meant to him. It was a great night but we were exhausted at the end, phew! Happy birthday, Fighting Chance!

Prize pick up

Fighting Chance is having their 10 year anniversary this weekend and I'm in charge of the silent auction. Well, I'm in charge of many things, but mainly the silent auction. I've been emailing many places for prizes and doing pick ups around town. Sharon, from Everything Wine in North Van, made up this lovely basket for us. She has been so generous in the past, with this event and the event at UBC that I've fundraised for. I love a nice, full prize basket!

Guys and Dolls

This past weekend I attending Fighting Chance's AGM and season announcement.
Here are some friends singing from Guys and Dolls.
It's a great show, and it goes up Summer 2018.
And guess what, I'm directing it! I'm super excited - it will be the first big, BIG show I'll direct all by myself. I have to wait a long time but it will be worth it!

Tapped

I made another candy basket for a fundraiser.
This time it was for FCP's Tapped, where you could buy a ticket and drink as much beer, wine and cider as you wanted, all night! I manned the silent auction table, and the event was a lot of fun! I met some cool people and helped out and got free chips and salsa, win-win-win!

Spelling Bee Closing

The Spelling Bee has closed! We had a lovely closing weekend, and I'm grateful to everyone who came to see our little show.

Here is a pic of me and Ziggy - she's adjusting my mic and being an all-round lovely person.
Here's some of the cast, watching something or other on Ian's phone.
And here's a few more of us.
Last Friday was fun - it was parent teacher night. All the volunteer spellers in the show for risqué words. Lots of fun. My secret friend - who ended up being my friend Charlie! - got me a BIG MR. BIG!
Goodnight Rona Peretti and the Spelling Bee, it was a great time.

Spelling Bee - secret friend

Spelling Bee is up and running. Being in a show means having a secret friend. Mine is killing it, and gives me small presents EVERY NIGHT!
Look at this little Stitch dressed up as Elvis!
And I mentioned that I needed to make a Pokemon Charmander for a friend, and I got yarn the next day!
I also said that I play flute and love Lord of the Rings. Look at this! There's a CD that you can play along to. I love my SF!

Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is open!
We had a few previews, opened, and now have a night or two off.
Here's the whole gang, on opening night.
And here's me making a funny face - but more importantly, a close up of the yummy opening night cake.

Election

Tonight I'm volunteering for Now or Later, a play produced by Fighting Chance. It's about a presidential election - very timely, don't you think?

Spelling Bee Photo Shoot

We had a photo shoot for our upcoming show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Our friend let us use the school she works at. It was so colorful, perfect for our show.
Rona looks unimpressed but she was happy to be out with the spellers!

We went out for a bite to eat afterwards - which is always the best part about hanging with theatre peeps: they are always up for food and drink!

Spelling Bee

In addition to Ghosts, I'm working on another show this fall - the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It's with Fighting Chance Productions, whom I have worked with many times in the past. I'm super excited about this one, so come and check us out!

Crafting for theatre - Mitts

I needed a prop for this show that I am directing. It was for a song that warned about the dangers of premarital sex. I came up with these two characters, aren't they a hoot?
And a matching little finger puppet. Crafting for theatre gave me a chuckle.

Next Show: Virgins, a Musical Threesome

Now that Glitz has closed, I'm on to the next venture. My next show is called Virgins, a Musical Threesome, which is actually three shows in one! It's three short musicals, each about 20 minutes long. Mine is the first one of the night, called Virgin Wars. And guess what, I get to direct this one! Our first rehearsal is this weekend, and I'm so excited to get started!

Into the Woods Closing

Into the Woods has closed! It was such a great experience, and I'll be sad to see this one go. Here are the ladies of the small dressing room: Caroline (Cinderella), Sarah (The Witch), Tristan (Jack's Mom), and moi (Baker's Wife). I had some fun times with these ladies!
I'll miss being on stage with my hubby!
Here's the dressing room - wow it looks messy ;)
And me!
Here is CK and Jack, who played our narrator/son in the show. Like father like son - same shirts!
And I'll miss our ASM Andrew, making fireworks for the Witch every night.
I will NOT miss stressing out about my lines. I had them written on cue cards that I looked at every night, up until the very end.
Thank you Mr. Sondheim.
