This morning we left San Fran and headed up to Portland.
We checked into the Hilton Double Tree and they gave us fresh baked cookies upon arrival!
Here is a snippet of our quick time in Portland: A visit to Powell's books, and a later dinner. Then brunch and wandering about the Alberta Arts district the next day. And of course, Salt and Straw ice cream.
We made it back in time to meet up with my family to check out the Canada fireworks. It's lovely to go on vacation but also lovely to come home!

Canada Day Food
Happy Canada day! We spent the day at the beach, sweltering! We fit in some food of course - donuts:
and beer. How Canadian, eh?

Canada Day
Happy Canada Day! Summer is definitely here, it's so hot, hot, hot out today! The hubs and I got some summer eating and drinking in. Here he is with a glass of white wine sangria, and a glass of red wine sangria. (Don't worry, one was mine.)
And just LOOK at this yummy charcuterie board! And it all tasted as good as it looks!

Today we're off to a Canada Day festival near our house, then heading over to see my family for a bbq. Happy birthday, Canada!

Canada Day Parade
Our theatre company Theatre Under The Stars participated in the Canada Day parade yesterday. It was TONS of fun!
We had a short rehearsal during the day, a break, then got into costumes. Here's a shot of Malkin Bowl with no chairs - looks peaceful. There are some eagles that live up in those tall trees that like to screech at us and watch the show.
Here's a mish-mash of some characters from How to Succeed, before the parade got started.
Here's an "after" shot of us. We were all very sweaty. They're are in mid-song because...
We all sang "O Canada" to Jenny, who celebrated her first Canada Day as a Canadian citizen!
